How to calculate the cfm needed for your attic application

One square foot of unobstructed inlet area is required for every 300 cfm output.

Multiply your attic square footage by .7 for minimum air delivery need to exhaust the attic. For darker roofs add 15% to the cfm you just calculated. For exceptionally large attics use 2 fans and have sufficient exhaust  or it will put the heat back down into the house.

Cons:
Easy to install (not in the summer) and seems to work well. It is a little louder then I had thought, but you don't hear it in the house at all. Only when you are outside can you hear it.
Excellent and quiet

Love this fan set-up......easy to install.

Make sure you spin the fan before final installation...one of the perimeter screws

contacted the fan blades.....so I trimmed the screw about 1/8" with a hacksaw.

Works great...dropped my attic temp from 125 to outdoor temp of 90-95 here in FL...well

worth the investment...and based on my KWH cost of 12 cents per KWH......takes about 40 cents

per day....5-6 hr run time to cool the attic....cheap way to vent a hot attic.
Great Investment

Pros:
Cons:
Reasonably well-built. Reasonably quiet. Very inexpensive. 2 of my 3 previous ones had the bearings fail after about 5 years, of 10 hour a day use. Not bad. These make a big difference keeping the house cool. I have 1 in each of 2 attics, and 1 in the garage. These things help the AC cool the house a lot, especially on the 100 deg days. I mounted mine with rubber isolation mounts that help keep the vibrations ( and noise) from the house.
uiet, take time to mount it property, cooler below and above

Cons:
Test after mounting to make sure the screws do not hit the fan; dremel wheel screws out of the way! On each metal mount, I included a medium foam plate to dampen the vibration. Up flush to the studs, thin insulation was placed between the mounting Medium Density Board to further limit vibration. Result: quiet fan operation, smooth, no rattle and below its a strain to know the thermostat tripped on the fan.

A hardware grade thermostat was hung next to the fan to calibrate the electrical motor control thermostat - I've read they are not accurate. This is an easy way to calibrate the fan turn-on temperature.

Power is boxed and switch controlled to the thermostat. May add automatic control below with some computer intelligence at a later point in time.

No problems so far and you can feel the difference, lower temperature and lower air conditioning bills. Now that's comfort!
